The North Atlantic Population Project (NAPP) harmonizes and disseminates nineteenth and early twentieth century census microdata. The collection includes data from Canada, Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the United States for the period 1703 to 1911.

Use it for GOOD -- never for EVIL

The North Atlantic Population Project (NAPP) website will be decommissioned at the end of 2018. All data in the NAPP database are now available from IPUMS-International.

New data users: Data users who have not previously registered with NAPP should apply for data access through IPUMS-International.

Existing NAPP users: NAPP users should complete all NAPP data extracts by December 31, 2018 after which time the data will be available from IPUMS-International only. Some NAPP variables are available from IPUMS-International by different names. More information on changes to variables is available here.
