Description
PAGENUM indicates the page on the microfilm reel where an individual can be found. Pages within each sub-district and division were numbered sequentially.
Typographical errors in this column were cleaned by research assistants at the Minnesota Population Center (United States 1880 census and the 1881 Canadian Census Project staff) so the data can be sorted properly.
Comparability
PAGENUM is available in the 1881, 1891, and 1901 Canada censuses as well as in the United States 1880 complete count dataset. Note that the IPUMS variable PAGENO is a household variables.
