Description

CHBORN reports the number of children ever born to each woman. Women were to report all live births by all fathers, whether or not the children were still living; they were to exclude stillbirths, adopted children, and stepchildren. 

Comparability

This variable is only available for United States and Iceland 1901.

The universe for United States samples is ever-married females age 12+, whereas the universe for Iceland 1901 sample is all ever-married persons.
