Description
BIRTHMO gives the month during which the person was born.
Comparability
Canada
In 1901 Canada census, information about persons who died between 31 March 1901 and the day when the enumerator visited the dwelling of the deceased are not included. The frequency of cases for April is markedly understated in the 1891 sample.
United States
In the United States samples, BIRTHMO means the same thing in all years. However, it is available only for persons younger than 1 in 1870 and 1880, and for all persons in 1900. The frequency of cases for June and July is markedly understated in the 1870 and 1880 samples. In these years, enumeration began on June 1, and the age of persons born close to that date was frequently rounded up to 1 year.
